We branch into [she][She] and [Run][Run] how? Yeah I'll figure it out it's on my to do list.
Run little girl, run.
They loud enough to stop traffic and soft enough to squish a baby bird.
Run little girl, run.
They scream at me and fight me, scratch limb to limb.
Run little girl, run.
They cheer me on, shouting praise.
Run little girl, run.
They chase me down. A dark alley. Stone cold. My hands are ice.
Run little girl, run.
My fists won’t undo themselves. The curls in my fingertips are as strong as the ones in my hair.
Run little girl, run.
My breathing is shallow. The world is dark. My shadow is gone
Run little girl, run.
Run faster than you’ve ever run before. Run so far that the voices will never find you. Leap and jump and dash and fly away from here. Far away. To a world where fingers uncurl and balloons fly higher than little girls. Run far, far, far away. Run and run and run.
I did.
Ran down pavements of marble, broken glass, and rubble.
Ran miles and miles away.
Ran into monster caves and demon dwellings
Ran, holding tighter to what once was real.
I ran until I couldn’t.
And then I looked up at Rabbit Mother, my eyes wide and lost. I had run for so long, that I couldn’t understand what it was to just...stop.
Rabbit Mother looked at me and said to hold tightly.
Rabbit Mother looked at me and said to hold closely.
Rabbit Mother looked at me and said,
“Hold the things you love tight. Hold them close. And never...ever let them go. That is how you are loved here”
And so I hold you, as tight as Rabbit Mother holds me. As tight as Rabbit Mother holds all of us. You will be loved, and this is how you too should love.
